NYC Band Continues to Impress with Evolving Sound and Growing Popularity
New York City-based band Monobloc has released their latest single "Irish Goodbye", further cementing their status as one of the most promising emerging acts in the indie rock scene.
The new track marks a departure from their previous releases, embracing a tense no-wave and post-punk complexity. "Irish Goodbye" is a brief but intricate composition that showcases the band's ability to create driving, propulsive music while reaching new sonic heights.
Lead vocalist Timothy Waldron shared the inspiration behind the song, citing a live performance video of Eric Burdon and War as a key influence. He explained, "I was new to the city and still finding my crowd, ducking and dodging strong characters at every turn. I was in too deep with my odd jobs. I was falling in and out of love with it all. This song slipped out."
Monobloc's rapid rise to prominence has been marked by critical acclaim for their first two singles, "Where is My Garden" and "I'm Just Trying To Love You". The band has garnered praise from publications such as Dork, NME, Rolling Stone UK, and DIY, with Rolling Stone UK hailing them as "Next in line to become one of the Big Apple's great bands."
The band's live performances have also been generating buzz, with appearances at major festivals like All Points East and Rock En Seine, as well as a sold-out residency at Manhattan's Pianos. Monobloc is set to continue their momentum with upcoming debut headlining shows in Manchester and London, along with festival appearances at Corona Capital, Iceland Airwaves, and the inaugural United Sounds NYC Festival.
Formed by vocalist Timothy Waldron and bassist Michael Silverglade, Monobloc emerged from New York City's thriving DIY scene. The band, completed by drummer Zack Pockrose and guitarists Ben Scofield and Nina Lüders, has quickly established themselves as skilled storytellers, blending pop sensibilities with a distinctly metropolitan post-punk attitude.
