[Monthly Mixing] Neural DSP has launched the 'Nano Cortex', an ultra-compact amp/cabinet simulation and effects pedal for guitar and bass.
The Nano Cortex, Neural DSP's latest hardware product, is a miniature pedal that combines amp and cabinet simulation with built-in effects, offering a highly portable all-in-one solution for guitarists and bassists.
This pedal uses the same technology found in the company's Quad Cortex unit, allowing users to digitally recreate any amp, drive pedal, cabinet, or combination thereof.
Neural DSP's innovative Neural Capture technology enables users to access a vast collection of modeled amps in the compact Nano Cortex.
It comes preloaded with classic amps including Marshall Silver Jubilee, Peavey 5150, Mesa/Boogie JP2C, Fender Princeton 65, Diezel VH4, and Ampeg SVT Classic. Thousands more models are available for free via the Cortex Cloud platform. Users can also capture their own custom rigs.
The Nano Cortex features an advanced IR (Impulse Response) loader with 10 pre-installed studio-quality IR files. Each IR offers 5 mic model options and 6 positions, allowing users to fine-tune cabinet simulations. There's also space for 256 additional user-defined IR files.
For effects, it provides two pre-amp processing blocks including an Adaptive Gate processor, and three post-amp blocks. These blocks can utilize various effects such as a Boss DC-2W style chorus, vintage-inspired delay, and a Mind Hall Reverb processor that creates ambiances ranging from small rooms to large halls.
Douglas Castro, CEO of Neural DSP Technologies, stated, "Since we first unveiled the Quad Cortex and Neural Capture in 2020, our goal has been to continuously push the boundaries of music technology. The Nano Cortex is the latest evolution in that journey, offering the same innovative sound capture technology in an incredibly compact design at a reasonable price."
The Nano Cortex is priced at 569 euros. More details can be found on the Neural DSP website.
