[Monthly Mixing] Amuse, a music distribution and artist services company, has introduced the 'Stream Check' feature that can detect artificial increases in streaming.
Stream Check is designed to help artists identify problems before their music is removed from services due to fraudulent streaming issues. This feature provides a panel where uploaded music can be reviewed, with each track color-coded to indicate the percentage of streams that Spotify deemed artificial in the previous month.
Erik Söderblom, Interim Chief Product Officer (CPO) at Amuse, explained, "Unintentional artificial streaming can occur. Artists might unknowingly use inappropriate promotional partners, or normal tracks could be added to third-party playlists that use bots, but the artists have to bear the consequences."
Amuse further stated that they have been building internal systems to prevent streaming fraud for years and have been collecting data from Spotify's monthly withheld stream reports.
Such a feature, on one hand, demonstrates that Spotify is already working hard to prevent so-called 'streaming fraud'. This seems to be related to recent efforts by streaming companies to ensure 'fair' revenue payments.
