[Monthly Mixing] Instagram is introducing a new profile music feature reminiscent of 2000s MySpace.
On August 22nd, Instagram announced through their X account, "Now you can brag about your music taste by adding a song to your profile."
While users could already add music to stories and posts, this update allows them to add music directly to their profile without creating a new post.
To add music to your profile, go to 'Edit Profile' and select 'Add music to your profile' in the newly added music section. After choosing a song, you can select a specific 30-second snippet to feature on your profile.
However, the song won't play automatically when someone visits the profile. Profile visitors can play or pause the added song at their discretion.
According to The Verge, Instagram is launching this feature in collaboration with pop star Sabrina Carpenter. Carpenter's official Instagram profile featured a teaser of 'Taste' from her new album.
