Auckland-based indie rock band Daily J has unveiled their latest single, "Sunday Stitches," marking the second release from their upcoming third studio album. This new track follows the success of their May single "Happy Slides" and builds on the momentum generated by their 2020 album "Venus Ate Mars."
The release of "Sunday Stitches" comes on the heels of Daily J's triumphant UK debut tour, which saw packed venues across the country and culminated in a well-received performance at London's All Points East festival in Victoria Park. This successful international foray follows a series of sold-out shows in their home region of Oceania and a notable arena performance supporting girl in red.
"Sunday Stitches" is described as a punchy track that explores the bittersweet emotions associated with repetitive Saturday nights and their melancholic aftermath. The band once again collaborated with producer Joe Faris, known for his work on "Venus Ate Mars" and the fan-favorite "Left Me Like Summer." The new single features fast-paced rhythms and energetic instrumentals, signaling a fresh era and sound for the band of brothers.
Vocalist and songwriter Jayden Paul explains the meaning behind "Sunday Stitches": "I wrote Sunday Stitches about the emotional tug-of-war between succumbing to temporary relief and living a healthier lifestyle. It underscores themes of self-awareness, introspection, and the courage to confront personal demons."
Daily J's songwriting has garnered critical acclaim, with nominations for awards and praise from publications like Rolling Stone and NME. Their debut UK live performances have further cemented their reputation as a captivating live act.
As anticipation builds for the announcement of their third album, "Sunday Stitches" showcases Daily J at a creative peak, blending emotion, innovation, and catchy melodies. Fans can listen to "Sunday Stitches" on various streaming platforms and watch the accompanying music video online.
