New Album 'Synthesizer' Features Functional Circuit Board Cover, Out October 4th
A Place To Bury Strangers have released their latest single and video, "Fear Of Transformation," a snarling gothic techno-punk track from their upcoming seventh album, Synthesizer.
The new release, described as feeling "like getting body slammed by a wave out at sea," explores the internal struggle of overcoming personal barriers. Frontman Oliver Ackermann elaborates on the song's theme: "Sometimes fear builds up and pins you in a cage. A conversation occurs in my head where I have to convince myself to just fucking do something to break out of it." The track embodies this internal dialogue, raw and intense in its delivery.
Accompanying the single is a video directed by Chad Crawford Kinkle, known for films Dementor and Jugface. The narrative follows a teenage boy sneaking out to attend his first Furry party, harboring a secret - he's actually a werewolf.
'Synthesizer', slated for digital release on October 4th and vinyl release on October 25th via Dedstrange, represents a significant evolution for the band. The vinyl edition features a unique, functional synthesizer as its cover, which fans can actually play. This innovative approach aligns with the album's deliberate embrace of chaotic, messy, and human elements in an era increasingly dominated by AI-driven music production.
The band is currently on tour, with dates scheduled across Europe and North America through November, including appearances at various festivals and venues. The tour kicked off in Berlin with a record release show and will conclude in Vancouver, featuring support acts such as Stella Rose, YHWH Nailgun, and Pop Music Fever Dream on various dates.
