[Monthly Mixing] Oasis, hailed as a 'legend' of Britpop, has sparked heated reactions by officially announcing their reunion after 16 years.
With the long-feuding Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, reconciling and agreeing to take the stage together, Oasis is set to embark on a large-scale stadium tour, 'OASIS LIVE 25', across the UK and Ireland in the summer of 2025.
The reunion tour will kick off on July 4 next year in Cardiff and will consist of 14 shows across five cities, including Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin.
The news of the reunion was announced on the 27th through Oasis' official social media accounts. A new photo of Liam and Noel, along with the message "The guns have stopped firing, the stars have aligned. The great wait is over," garnered enthusiastic responses from many netizens.
The announcement had such a significant impact that Oasis' music streaming on Spotify increased by over 160%.
The music industry's reaction has also been intense. Mark Davyd, CEO of Music Venue Trust (MVT), spoke about the positive impact Oasis' reunion will have on the music industry, saying, "Oasis' reunion will create jobs, stimulate the economy, and spread joy."
He particularly pointed out that only 11 of the 34 small venues where Oasis initially performed still exist, expressing hope that this reunion will serve as an opportunity to highlight the importance of small music venues.
Ticket sales for the tour will begin at 9 AM (UK time) on August 31. The expected revenue from this tour is projected to reach 400 million pounds (approximately 700 billion Korean won).
Meanwhile, concerns have been raised about accommodation and transportation issues as the Edinburgh performance coincides with the Fringe Festival period. However, most fans are showing willingness to endure these inconveniences to see Oasis perform.
Oasis has also indicated plans to expand the tour beyond Europe, but specific schedules have not yet been announced. Fans are also speculating about the possibility of new music releases.
