Genelec Unveils UNIO Personal Reference Monitoring Solution Combining Hardware and Software

[Monthly Mixing] Genelec has unveiled the ‘UNIO’ personal reference monitoring solution that combines hardware and software.

The UNIO system includes the 9320A SAM monitor controller, GLM calibration software, and Genelec’s first headphone model, the 8550A professional reference headphones.

The 8550A professional reference headphones boast an innovative active design, with the headphone output of the 9320A controller adjusted to match the factory calibration of individual 8550A headphones. This setup delivers precise resolution, excellent linearity, acoustic accuracy, and neutral sound characteristics.

The closed-back design of the 8550A provides excellent sound isolation and comfortable wear for all head and ear sizes. Utilizing 40mm transducers and neodymium magnets, it achieves a frequency response of 15Hz to 20kHz and exceptional level matching. When used with the 9320A controller, it can reach up to 119dB SPL.

The GLM 5 software offers personalized optimization options, and the optional Aural ID V2.0 calculates the user’s unique personal HRTF to deliver spatiality and directionality similar to actual loudspeaker monitoring.

Genelec will showcase and provide an experience of the UNIO ecosystem at IBC 2024 in Amsterdam.
