[Monthly Mixing] Waldorf Music has announced the release of 'Microwave 1', a software recreation of the Microwave synthesizer that was popular in the 90s, 35 years after its original release.
Waldorf stated that they analyzed and modeled the characteristics and unique sounds of the original hardware down to the finest details through years of effort.
The digital section faithfully reproduces the original ASIC's 250kHz sampling rate and models the digital-to-analog converters (DACs) for each voice.
It also includes all original wavetables and faithfully models the revision A and B analog filters. The unique envelope and LFO timings were also recreated based on the original 68k code.
The Microwave 1 plugin supports 8-voice polyphony, just like the original hardware. It includes all factory presets and multi presets, along with 5 additional original sound sets and 2 new sound sets.
It's available in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX formats for macOS and Windows. The regular price is 149 euros, but it's currently available at a launch discount price of 119 euros.
