Post-hardcore band Touché Amoré has unveiled their latest single, "Hal Ashby," alongside news of their forthcoming album "Spiral in a Straight Line." Set to release on October 11th, 2024, via Rise Records, this album marks a significant milestone for the band.
"Hal Ashby," the second single from the upcoming album, pays homage to the acclaimed American director known for his counterculture films of the 1970s. The track explores themes of misunderstanding and the need for course correction, showcasing frontman Jeremy Bolm's powerful vocal performance and clever lyricism.
Accompanying the single is a surreal music video directed by Sean Stout. The video portrays Bolm watching an Ashby-esque film, blurring the lines between on-screen action and reality. Bolm describes the video as "half a love letter to Hal and half a dream-like interpretation of the song as a whole."
"Spiral in a Straight Line" delves into the concept of emotional spiraling, examining the aftermath of life-altering changes. To bring their vision to life, Touché Amoré reunited with legendary producer Ross Robinson, known for his work with bands like Korn, Slipknot, and At The Drive-In. The album also features collaborations with Julien Baker of boygenius and rock pioneer Lou Barlow of Dinosaur Jr.
Following the album's release, Touché Amoré will embark on a 2024 US headlining tour. Starting October 9th, the tour will feature support acts Soul Glo, Portrayal of Guilt, and Soft Blue Shimmer, with stops in major cities including Los Angeles, Seattle, Atlanta, and Brooklyn.
Fans can pre-order "Spiral in a Straight Line" now and listen to "Hal Ashby" on various streaming platforms.
