90s Video Game Console Reverb Recreated in 'GameVerb' Plugin

[Monthly Mixing] Impact Soundworks has released 'GameVerb', a plugin that recreates the reverb sounds of 90s video game consoles.

GameVerb is a plugin that modernly reconstructs the reverb algorithms of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), Nintendo 64 (N64), and Sony PlayStation (PSX).

This plugin accurately reproduces the unique algorithms, filters, and delays that developers used to overcome the hardware limitations of these consoles at the time.

Key features include one-click game-specific presets, a detailed 'Geek Mode' for fine-tuning, and sample rate and bit rate reduction functions for lo-fi sounds. These allow users to easily apply the unique sounds of classic game consoles to current music productions.

Specialized functions are also provided for each console. In SNES mode, users can recreate sounds from popular franchises such as Mario, Mega Man X, Donkey Kong Country, and Final Fantasy. PSX mode offers nine classic reverbs, while N64 mode provides delay line reverb used in first-party games and comb filter-based reverb used in over 100 classic games.

The manufacturer stated about GameVerb, "It goes beyond simple emulation to reinterpret the essence of 90s game sounds in a modern way. It can evoke nostalgia while also being useful in contemporary music production."

GameVerb is available in VST, AU, and AAX formats and supports Windows and Mac OS. The price is $49.
