[Monthly Mixing] Gibson has unveiled a limited edition model, the 'B.B. King "Rumble in the Jungle" 1974 ES-355', commemorating the legendary blues guitarist B.B. King.
This guitar is a recreation of the one B.B. King used during the music festival celebrating the 'Rumble in the Jungle' heavyweight boxing match in Zaire in 1974.
At the time, B.B. King was using a 1974 ES-355, which remained his main guitar until the development of the Gibson 'Lucille' model in 1980.
This limited edition model is produced in a run of only 100 units, faithfully reproducing B.B. King's 1974 walnut-colored ES-355.
Key features include Murphy Lab light aging, mother-of-pearl inlays, T-Type Custombucker pickups, a mono Varitone switch, and a Maestro™ Vibrola™ tailpiece.
The guitar also comes with various case candy commemorating the historic festival performance and the 'Rumble in the Jungle' match.
Gibson stated, "There isn't a guitar hero alive today who hasn't been influenced by B.B. King's powerful performances," adding, "This model is a meaningful tribute commemorating his legendary performance."
The 'B.B. King "Rumble in the Jungle" 1974 ES-355' is priced at $9,999. For more information, visit the Gibson website.
